Mike's Bike Shop Cup Some pics from the second race of the Mike's Bike Shop Cup. Read all about the series at http://www.mbscycling.org or http://www.atlanticcyclingcentre.com. Good time getting out and shooting some action, could have used my flash alot more and autofocus wasn't really up to it even with center focus point. Got a few good shots, 3 of which are on Flickr. A gallery with many pictures of the race. May 24th, 2007.
Went ridin' with the kids after work. Tried out the off camera flash triggered by on camera thing, mixed results. wednesday, jan 3rd, 2007.Tonight and last night I took a trip down to Alma to take some pics under the fullmoon. The first stop was at Denis Beach where I spent most of the first night. Denis Beach is a pretty amazing place. When the tide is low there is a section of flat sand that extends several hundred meters out into the water. The beach is over a kilometer long ending in WaterSide where there are some huge cliffs. The weather was great both nights with the temperature staying close to 0. The first night the clouds were low and quick moving but the second night the conditions weren't as good. The clouds were much higher in the sky and moving very slowly blocking out the moon for long periods of time at the start of the night and then permanently teasing me the whole time. The second night the air was much more humid and there was a bit of fog at Denis Beach so I spent alot of time right in Alma. On the way home the second night I stopped in Riverview to take some pictures off of the new Gunningsville Bridge. The tide was coming in and the peticodiac was full of flowing ice which gave a nice effect. I have some pictures on flickr Sunday, dec 31st, 2006.Went caving and winter camping with Cory and Davey last night. We went to the Underground Lake and camped up top of Shepody Mountain in Albert County. The owner of the hill tried to get it opened as a ski hill a while back and even had runs cut into the thing. It is about 320m high and the base is right at sea level. We brought 2 tents so I got a tent to myself which wasn't really that cold. There is a nice view from the top. I have the pictures Here. Tonight I headed out to the industrial park and snapped away. The moon was really nice and even tho it was cold the wind was calm so it wasn't very chilly. I favorite shot of the night is the one I have right here. I put six new ones up on flickr. Can't wait to go out over the next few nights, the moon is bright! |

Tonight was very slippery and icy. I drove around for a while staying out of the windy hail and rain snapping a few shots with the window down. I figured I'd bite the bullet and finally get out. This water tower is something that I have been wanting to photograph. In this shot the trees are all blurry from swinging in the wind. There are some things that bother me about this one but with the rain and wind I was a little rushed. I was lucky that the wind was coming from behind as to not get my lens too covered in rain. |

Last night Mechanical Engineering's very own Ryan "BabyCutz" O'Hara played at the Cellar for the Freddy Beach Christmas Party. This was my first time taking pictures at a concert and the low light proved to be a challenge. The pics with the flash turned out alright and I had to shoot at -2 stops without to reduce blur. You can check out the pics in my Picasa Album. |

I am going to try to make the site a little nicer and have more frequent photo updates. I have a new layout in progress and I made a welcomish page as well. For now enjoy this video I made of my buddy Matt Blanchard during a trip to Mont Saint Anne way back in 2001. I fractured my collar bone on the kinked rail and spent almost 3 whole days playing Playstation and watching vids back at the cabin. Enjoy

Yesterday was the 32nd Annual Coaster Derby put on by the Student Society of Mechanical Engineers of UNB. The event consists of shutting down half of campus and racing gravity powered (AKA "coasting") cars down the hill. This year was a success as usual with 5 cars entering and only one fatal (for the car) crash. Pictures Here, and Videos Here (videos courtesy of Ian Haya). |

Me and Davey went camping last Friday night at Goose River in Fundy National Park. Goose River is in the bottom left hand corner of the park and is also where the footpath leaves the park. We stayed in his MEC Wanderer 2 tent. It has alot of room in the two vestibules. Here are some of the trip PICS. Julie met me in Alma on Saturday and we spent the day kicking around the area. We went to Denis Beach for a walk and did Dixon falls (under construction). Pictures here |

Davey, Cory, and I went to Fundy Park this past weekend to do the Fundy Circuit, a ~45 km loop around the park. The first night we did 18 km from HQ to Marven Lake. We left the car at 6pm and got there at 12:30. My dogs were killin' me. Long story short we all decided we should shortened our trip after hiking another ~8.5km to Bennet Lake. We cut back on the main road to Chignecto North arriving at 6pm on saturday. The backcountry site we were supposed to have for saturday night was located on Tracy Lake and would have left 18 km for us to do the last day. We though this might be a little much for the last day since we were all having problems of some sort (foot, knee, ankle) from the distance and weight we were covering and carrying. In the end we covered 35km in 24 hours which is something none of us have done before with packs. The trip was a good excursion to sort out gear and any problems we might have on anything longer. Hopefully we will be going on a long trip this summer. Check out the PICS And video of Davey crossing point wolfe river "YOUTUBE" |
